Here are the great big right-in-the-open FACTS we all know about what just happened in Hamburg, Germany last week:
  1. Trump deliberately scheduled a major meeting with Putin.
  2. The meeting lasted two hours.
  3. Only ten minutes worth of the meeting has been explained.
  4. Only two translators were in the room along with the four leaders.
  5. Trump allegedly challenged Putin about cyber-warfare.
  6. Putin said he didn't do it.
  7. Trump said he didn't think Putin did it.
  8. Trump mocked the 17 United States Intelligence agencies for their findings.

There is little room for debate about the clear conclusions to be drawn from the basic facts of what Trump (and Putin) have shown us to be true:
  • Trump is not an American.
  • Trump does not represent America.
  • Trump will never choose the interests of America over the interests of Trump.

Any margin for alternative interpretation of the Trumps is now gone. They are working on a corporate merger between two powerful countries, with each of them as CEO of their respective major divisions. They both expect to be able to write their own rules, as corporate boards have always allowed when accompanied by profits. The fact that our nation, the United States, is designed in such a way as to be CONSTITUTIONALLY AVERSE to this style of operation, is merely a stumbling-block at the front-end of their venture.

Trump has no interest in courts, or a congress, and certainly not any free media, and he intends to dispense with all of those things to model his beloved homeland in the image of modern Russia, combined with Nazi Germany and any old European Monarchy. And he will be patriotic about it every step of the way. He sees himself as the first in a long line of King Trumps.

The last year of political life in the United States has been like a reality-show version of the Marvin Gaye song "What's Goin' On?"

Except that Marvin and the rest of us KNEW what was going on around 1970, and it was plenty bad. In this verse, we really did not know "what's goin' on" with the whole Trump movement, the Russia connection, and so forth. We have been spectators to an unprecedented suspense/horror/drama/adventure movie - - - in real life - - - that has largely made no sense at all.

Now we have the answer.
Once and for all.

In the opening segment of her show on January 11, Maddow presented factual data assembled by her research team that sheds the key angle of light on the Trump "Presidency" that suddenly, and completely, makes everything clear. The entire show from that night appears below, and you are welcome to watch the whole thing, but it's the FIRST 20 MINUTES THAT WILL EXPLAIN EVERYTHING THAT'S BEEN GOING ON FOR THE PAST YEAR:

QUICK SYNOPSIS:  Exxon has purchased rights to drill oil in more than 60-million acres of Russian land. The sanctions against Russia have stopped those projects from moving forward. The Exxon properties in Russia represent more than half of all the properties worldwide that Exxon can explore. If Exxon can get the United States to be "more friendly" with Russia, the sanctions could be lifted, and Exxon would be in line to make trillions, if not quadrillions of dollars in the coming years.

BOTTOM LINE:  This is all about OIL MONEY. Trump has been compromised and Putin is extorting him to open up drilling in Russia. The profits from these projects will enrich Trump and Putin, and may give rise to the return of the U.S.S.R.

The anti-Trump protesting has already started for the Inauguration, a full week before the actual ceremony in Washington, D.C.

Two different groups brought thousands of Americans to the streets of the Capital City on Saturday, one led by Al Sharpton, the other by an iconic African-American church in DC.

The events have garnered light coverage in the mainstream media, as all of the major news agencies remain transfixed by Trump's Twitter feeds. But we picked-up on the story, and we share links with you here:

The group directed by Al Sharpton is under the auspices of the "National Action Network". Here is a link to the web page of that group.

The weather on Saturday was not so great for outdoor activities, but that didn't stop the first wave of anti-Trumpists. The cold rain was much nicer than the zero-degree weather that met protesters on December 19 at the Michigan State Capitol building.

The weather forecast for the Main Event next weekend is favorable in Washington, D.C. As you can see below, temperatures are predicted in the 50s, with very decent conditions on tap for Saturday, the day of the Million Woman March:

As "funny" as this picture may be, it sums up what has been happening in our world about as well as any other single image. Vladimir Putin politically seduced Donald Trump years ago, subsequently extorting him to win the United States Presidency.

Now Putin rides Trump on a daily basis, commanding him to open up the Russian oil fields to Exxon. The profits of that venture would enrich Trump and fund the rise and return of the Soviet Union. Trump is not only anti-Obama, he is also anti-Reagan.

We continue our series of "Top Ten" lists - - - the "Greatest Hits" of Barack Obama - - - taken from the web site "Please Cut The Crap", which lists 400 accomplishments of the first openly bi-racial President. Each claim comes with a link that allows you to check out the basis of the claim.

Don't let the "Fake News History Team" re-write the story of what actually happened under the Obama Administration. It was truly one of the best periods of modern American life, despite the continual efforts of the Republican Elite Class to distort the picture. Trump inherits a peaceful nation with a steadily growing economy. If the status quo is not maintained, the fault is with Trump, not Obama.

Specific Examples of Economic Improvement

The only way to "get to" Donald Trump is his bank account. He loves money, that's for sure, but only if it's HIS MONEY. There is now a way to make it harder for Trump to make more money.

An APP for your smartphone has been created to help you avoid purchasing products that are associated with the Trumps. You can read about it from the sources listed below.

The new APP was also mentioned recently on Saturday Night Live:

Before we officially reach the end of the Barack Obama Era, we should take time to remember for posterity those things that he did as President that were actually very good for America. How many of us listened to the awful things said about him during his term of office only to "bite our lips" and let the silly comments go by the wayside? Who among us thought that the wing-nut crowd would get in position to literally rewrite history with their nonsense?

So we start this series of "Top Ten" lists, taken from the web site "Please Cut The Crap", which lists 400 accomplishments of the first openly bi-racial President. Each claim comes with a link that allows you to check out the basis of the claim. (Too bad we can't force Donald Trump to post links along with his crazy claims, eh?)

He changed the Culture of the Executive Branch

  • Within his first week, he signed an Executive Order ordering an audit of government contracts, combating waste and abuse.   http://1.usa.gov/dUvbu5

  • On his first full day, he froze White House salaries for the duration of the Great Recession.  http://cbsn.ws/2aNMqNN

  • He committed to phasing out unnecessary and outdated weapons systems and signed the Weapons Systems Acquisition Reform Act, in an attempt to limit waste, fraud and abuse in the defense procurement and contracting systems. http://bit.ly/hOw1t1

  • Signed an Executive Order instructing federal agencies to review all federal regulations and remove any unnecessary and/or burdensome regulations from the books.  http://1.usa.gov/Lpo5bd

  • Banned anyone from working in an agency they had lobbied in previous years and placed strict limits on lobbyists’ access to the White House.   http://nyti.ms/gOrznV

  • Restored the 30-day time frame for former presidents to review records and eliminated the right for the vice president or family members of former presidents to do the reviews, giving the public greater access to historic White House documents, and curtails the use of executive privilege to shield them. http://1.usa.gov/gUetLb

  • Improved the Freedom of Information Act and issued new guidelines to make FOIA more open and transparent when processing FOIA requests.  http://1.usa.gov/gjrnp2

- - - - - Part Three in a series - - - - -

Have you noticed the Trumpists carrying on for the last five weeks like it's New Year's Eve, July Fourth, and their own birthdays, all rolled into one non-stop celebration? The way they figure it, the final score was announced during the wee hours of November 9, when the preliminary vote totals were announced after the traditional "speed-count" on Election Night.

Not so fast, Trump-lovers! The Electoral College is the group that actually picks the President in the United States. Many of us would like to see this piece of the American Constitutional process eliminated, but it's still in effect right now. There is still a chance that a candidate other than Trump may be selected on Monday, December 19.

We have shown that the Electoral College is not just a "rubber-stamp". We have demonstrated that the Electors at the EC are mandated to exercise free speech and/or free will when they cast their votes. In this article, we will examine the criteria they are authorized to use in order to make their decisions.

Way back in November, Michael Signer wrote in Time Magazine that the "founding fathers" wanted to prevent somebody just like Trump from ever taking office. His view, along with millions of other Americans, is that Trump is a Demagogue:
"For that reason, the Electoral College was designed to prevent a demagogue from becoming president. It serves two purposes. One of them is to give small states power as well as big states and the cities. The other is to provide a mechanism where intelligent, thoughtful and statesmanlike leaders could deliberate on the winner of the popular vote and, if necessary, choose another candidate who would not put Constitutional values and practices at risk."
A designated Elector in Texas has made national news out of his pledge - - - and his explanation - - - of why he will not be voting for Trump on Monday. That's despite the fact that Trump carried his home state of Texas on November 8. Christopher Suprun has explained very clearly how he studied the legal basis for his role, and how he concluded that Trump was not an allowable choice for him to make:

It's easy to tell that Suprun has done his homework.
"Alexander Hamilton provided a blueprint for states’ votes," Suprun writes. "Federalist 68 argued that an Electoral College should determine if candidates are qualified, not engaged in demagogy, and independent from foreign influence. Mr. Trump shows us again and again that he does not meet these standards. Given his own public statements, it isn’t clear how the Electoral College can ignore these issues, and so it should reject him."
- Christopher Suprun
In short, Suprun observes three disqualifying features of candidate Trump:
  1. He is unfit for office.
  2. He is a demagogue.
  3. He has foreign financial entanglements.
The reasoning described by Suprun is elucidated in a full-page advertisement appearing last week in several major newspapers, and signed by dozens of professors and legal experts, including Laurence Tribe. A large group of lawyers has also pledged to defend any so-called "faithless electors" should they be challenged after the fact.

A lawyer named R.J. Lyman has been working behind the scenes to explain the law to Electors, as described in this article appearing in USA Today. Lyman is obviously using the criteria laid out by Alexander Hamilton in his Federalist Paper #68:
This is reflected in his later fears about the types of people who could potentially become president. He worries that corrupted individuals could, particularly those who are either more directly associated with a foreign state, or individuals who do not have the capacity to run the country. The former is covered by Article II, Section 1, v of the United States Constitution, while the latter is covered by Hamilton in Federalist 68, where he notes that the person who will become president will have to be a person who possesses the faculties necessary to be a president, stating that:
"Talents for low intrigue, and the little arts of popularity, may alone suffice to elevate a man to the first honors in a single State; but it will require other talents, and a different kind of merit, to establish him in the esteem and confidence of the whole Union, or of so considerable a portion of it as would be necessary to make him a successful candidate for the distinguished office of President of the United States."
- Alexander Hamilton
Federalist Paper #68

It now appears to be clear that IF the Electors follow the law, and IF they can tell that Trump is either unfit for office, demagogic, or financially tied-in with foreign governments - - - ALL OF WHICH ARE TRUE - - - then they will cast their votes for somebody other than Trump on Monday.

- - - - - Part Two in a series - - - - -

Trumpists everywhere are certain the ballgame ended on November 8th. They think the Electoral College, which meets - - - and votes - - - on Monday, is merely a technicality. We have shown otherwise. In this article, we will expound on the proofs that Electors have the right to choose whomever they see fit as President through their role in the Electoral College.

Common sense suggests that nobody would bother to advertise this fact in major newspapers if there was no chance of it actually happening. Yet that's exactly what just happened this week in several cities in states that voted for Trump last month. The Philadelphia Inquirer, the Austin American-Statesman, the Salt Lake City Tribune, the Tampa Bay Times, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and the Wisconsin State Journal.

The New York Times explained this week why the United States Constitution allows, or even mandates, that Electors "vote their conscience" at the Electoral College:
"As a matter of federal constitutional law, there is little basis for thinking that electors must side with their party’s candidate when that candidate carries the state. The Constitution says only that they “shall meet in their respective states and vote by ballot.” Some evidence suggests that the framers envisioned the independent judgment of electors as a check against populist passions. Alexander Hamilton, for instance, wrote that the Electoral College would allow the presidency to be decided “by men most capable of analyzing the qualities adapted to the station, and acting under circumstances favorable to deliberation.”

"Those who have been calling for electors to be “faithless” have thus ceded too much linguistic ground. Indeed, their terminology has things backward. If a member of the Electoral College sincerely believes that Mr. Trump is as awful as alleged, then for her to take a stand against him — with the eyes of the nation upon her and at significant personal risk — would be an act of profound constitutional fidelity. Thanks to the Republican elector Christopher Suprun of Texas, we have now seen what such fidelity looks like."
So common sense says the Electors have free speech and free will, and so does the New York Times. What about the lawyers? They decide everything in the end (along with judges), so what do they have to say about it? To find out, let's go to a web site designed by lawyers to be used by lawyers, FindLaw.com:
Electors as Free Agents - ''No one faithful to our history can deny that the plan originally contemplated, what is implicit in its text, that electors would be free agents, to exercise an independent and nonpartisan judgment as to the men best qualified for the Nation's highest offices.'' 85 Writing in 1826, Senator Thomas Hart Benton admitted that the framers had intended electors to be men of ''superior discernment, virtue, and information,'' who would select the President ''according to their own will'' and without reference to the immediate wishes of the people.
"Electors constitutionally remain free to cast their ballots for any person they wish and occasionally they have done so. 87 A recent instance occurred when a 1968 Republican elector in North Carolina chose to cast his vote not for Richard M. Nixon, who had won a plurality in the State, but for George Wallace, the independent candidate who had won the second greatest number of votes. Members of both the House of Representatives and of the Senate objected to counting that vote for Mr. Wallace and insisted that it should be counted for Mr. Nixon, but both bodies decided to count the vote as cast. 88
"The power of either Congress 89 or of the States to enact legislation binding electors to vote for the candidate of the party on the ticket of which they run has been the subject of much argument. 90 It remains unsettled and the Supreme Court has touched on the issue only once and then tangentially."

Public protests are scheduled for Monday at all 50 State Capitol buildings, the locations where the Electors meet to cast their votes. It's quite a stretch to suggest that these protests are being planned for no particular purpose. Legal opinions that confirm the Electors right to choose have propelled these protests from plans to action.

Alexander Hamilton wrote many of the Federalist Papers, including #68, which details the philosophical under-pinnings of the Electoral College. In modern parlance, these represent the so-called "original-intent constitutionalism". His important vision clearly allowed for the Electors to make up their own minds and cast their vote accordingly.

Regardless of the intent and letter of the law, the right of the Electors to make their own independent votes at the Electoral College has not been fully confirmed or denied by the US Supreme Court. With that in mind, many legal scholars assert those rights as delineated by the US Constitution.

So the final chapter of the 2016 Presidential Election will be written on Monday, December 19. This represents the last legal chance to stop Trump before Inauguration Day.

- - - - - First in a short series about the Electoral College - - - - -

After duking it out on the comment threads with Trumpists last week, it became clear that a great number of them believe that the Electoral College is legally required to elect Trump as President on Monday. They seem to believe that the EC is basically a "rubber stamp" for the popular vote.

It is so ironic to point out to them that the popular vote does not determine the winner in the United States Presidential Election. To do so makes me look like a defender of the EC, of which I totally am not.

Common sense would tell you that the "founding fathers" did not inject pointless bureaucratic processes in the US Constitution. They had their hands full creating the governmental tools and processes that actually did things, making them too busy to work on dead parts that only served to keep the wheels spinning. In other words, the electors at the EC must have a choice; otherwise, why go through the motions?

Common Sense does not work so well with Trumpists,
unless their Lord and Hero himself dictates that it is true.

The Trumpists like to discard information from what they call the "Mainstream Media", which they say has been "debunked" (whatever that's supposed to mean). That approach is the gateway to total madness, as the FREE PRESS is critical to the core of the American Democracy. You literally cannot ignore the FREE PRESS and function as an American.

CNN offers a thorough description of all the general possibilities that can ensue from the Electoral College in this article:

from CNN.COM

Both Common Sense and the Mainstream Media point out that there must be a purpose and function to the Electoral College beyond that of a "rubber stamp". Is there a more authoritative source on the subject?

How about the Twelfth Amendment to the United States Constitution? This federal law was implemented after the era of the "founding fathers", strongly suggesting that there was more to the EC process than just to mirror the popular vote and/or the electoral vote. Here is a key excerpt:

Twelfth Amendment
The Electors shall meet in their respective states, and......The person having the greatest number of votes for President, shall be the President, if such number be a majority of the whole number of Electors appointed......

The language of the Twelfth Amendment clearly implies that it's the vote of the EC that determines the identity of the President-Elect. It's clearly the EC that makes the decision.

So Common Sense, the Mainstream Media, and the US Constitution all suggest, imply, denote, or define the Electoral College is being quite different from a "rubber stamp". For a final reference, let's get modern and check Wikipedia! Here's an excerpt from the page on Federalist Paper #68 by Alexander Hamilton, in which the role of the EC is further explained:
"The electoral system attempts to create equality between states of different population sizes and it was also designed by Hamilton and the Founding Fathers to "weed out" any candidate that might capture the public's interest enough to get elected by the process but who do not have the requisite qualities necessary for the office of Presidency of the United States, therefore not being fit to become the commander in chief of the United States. The Electors were to protect the public from such a situation by themselves casting the official votes for president. Electors were to be chosen by the public, and were to be educated people who would carefully consider everything and would vote their conscience without regard to political party or state affiliation. The election phase has the popular vote and the Electoral College. Even though the election has a popular vote, the individuals who comprise the Electoral College are the votes that actually and officially elect the new president."

Anybody reading this article to this point must conclude beyond a reasonable doubt that the Electoral College does not perform the function of a "rubber stamp" to ratify the popular vote and/or the electoral vote.

To finalize this part of the Electoral College discussion, we can prove that the EC was not intended to be a "rubber stamp" BECAUSE RUBBER STAMPS WERE NOT CREATED UNTIL THE 1860s! Rubber itself was just being invented in the 1700s.

Funny how the mainstream news-cycles work sometimes. The evidence of Russian interference in the American Election was evident months ago, well before Election Day. The vague announcement in mid-October about the mischief was incomplete; we now know that was by design. And now, suddenly, just before the Electoral College does its thing, the truth is revealed:

The dots were connected right after the Election by Scott Dworkin, in his self-titled "Dworkin Report". He's the one who runs the "democraticcoalition.org" web site.

Dworkin is now working on a project to compile all of the shenanigans of Trump into one location, found on Twitter as #TRUMPLEAKS. You can also get to that project through the main web site.

Newsweek reported on the Russian support for Trump in the week prior to Election Day. The BBC was on the story in September. Time was moving on this story in August. Check out this video about the Russian love for Trump dating back to last April (also from the BBC). The Political Insider previewed the KGB vote for Trump all the way back to December 2015, one year ago.

So much for the "anti-Trump bias" of
the so-called Mainstream Media.

The media supported Trump's campaign
like no other since its inception.

We showed you this billboard in Russia (submitted courtesy of a reader), but not to surprise you, only to verify what we've basically known all along. Trump has no greater purpose to seek the presidency than to promote his Russian political values.

(original source web site here)

Former KGB Director Vladimir Putin finally has his "puppet" in the White House. The Soviet Dream during the Reagan Era has come true. Russians are rejoicing over the election of TheRump.

The Russian "meddling" in the American Election process is front and center now, but it's not exactly news. Remember the reports in October? How about this report the day after the election? The only thing that's changed is that government officials are playing different versions of "hide-and-seek" and "keep-away" with the information.

Momentum is gathering on this issue, but it may not be enough to block access to the White House. It seems likely, however, to be one of the items on the "Naughty List" that Republicans can use to impeach the Abominable Showman in 2017.

I come from a demographically-mixed family background. We have Catholics, Protestants, and Jews. We have Democrats, Republicans, and "Others". We have professors and truck-drivers, military and pacifists. We don't have everything, but we have a lot of diversity in my extended family.

I've been trained to sit down and talk with anybody. I like to interact with those who are different from me. It's fun to seek common ground and agreements with people who come from vastly divergent backgrounds than me.

So while I attended a major university (graduating Magna Cum Laude), I've always been able to appreciate the lesser-educated among us. I played competitive sports with blue-collar boys, despite wearing a white-collar and a tie during the day. For professional reasons, I have spoken with a very wide spectrum of people.

We all have much to learn from those who are different from us. Our individual five-senses on their own are insufficient to digest and interpret the true nature of the world around us. When we listen to other points of view, when we consider problems facing others, we can learn more about the world in order to benefit everybody.

I believe we should all get along,
and that we can be STRONGER TOGETHER.

But the Trumpist movement is pushing my limits. It's one thing to be uneducated, it's another thing altogether to reject knowledge, distort information, and downgrade folks for being intelligent. The Trumpists are violating a longtime intellectual code of honor in America under which the more educated and more intelligent are universally respected.

Trump hates knowledge.
Trump mocks intelligence.
Trump promotes ignorance.
Trump supports irrationality.
Trump stands for IGNORANCE.

The Trumpist movement is trying to turn America into a land of idiots and fools, hell-bent on their own destruction. He has cajoled otherwise innocent folks into voting against their own self-interests and threatening others as a result.

Have you noticed how offensive the Trumpists are? At campaign rallies, they want to send their opponents out on a stretcher. At protest marches, they want to send their opponents off to a different country. In personal interactions across the country, the Trumpists project a cold arrogance devoid of any interest in thoughts that are at variance with the social programming they've submitted to by Trump.

Given the opportunity to become President, Trump is taking his mind-numbing road-show across America, revving up the frustrated under-class to back his nefarious plans. He has time for pointless rallies, but no time for intelligence briefings necessary to do the job to which he supposedly aspires.

Trump is working hard to convince the lesser-educated among us to take pride in their lack of intelligence and to glorify their low-information lifestyles. In doing so, he threatens all of humanity with the second-coming of the Dark Ages.

Trumpism is anathema to civilization.

The TRAGEDY is what happened on November 8. The CATASTROPHE is what will begin on January 20. We must work to stop that process from playing out, and if it does, we must resist the process that ensues from it. WE MUST BLOCK TRUMP.

The nomination of "Mad Dog Mattis" as Secretary of Defense is a fancy way for Donald Trump to tell everybody in the United States: "Shove it up your wherever, I'm in charge and you can't stop me."

Mattis is not eligible for the position. By law, he must have been out of uniform (or never in uniform) for at least seven years. Trump knows that Mattis does not qualify, which is probably one of the reasons for his nomination.

The US Congress clearly stated its intent for Secretary of Defense nominations immediately following World War II. Appointing Mattis would violate the clear policy instructions of the Americans who survived the fascist tide of Nazism by defeating the Axis Powers. It might be considered "patriotic" to follow those instructions, but Trump is no Patriot.

These maneuverings by the presumed-president-elect have brought the concept of "civilian control" to the center of public debate. Most everybody would agree it's best to not have the foxes guarding the hen houses. But Trump is banking on the broadly-respected Mattis to convince everybody inside the beltway to - - - once again, just like the election - - - act against their own self-interests by letting the military run the military.

It's pretty clear that Trump is gearing up for a series of major wars. He will view geopolitical divisions as a business opportunity.

In business, the big companies take over the small companies. We've seen that happen countless times in the last century or more. Whether that's good, bad, or ugly is an economic discussion; it's not my point here.

Trump the Simpleton will see the smaller countries as inferior due to their size, and will consider them ripe for takeover by the larger countries. Hence, his adoring fascination with Vladimir Putin and his unprecedented love for Mother Russia.

Trump the Fool will allow/encourage Russia to "consolidate their business operations" by taking over several eastern european countries, effectively re-forming the U.S.S.R. under the standard practices of large corporations. He intends to work with Russia on a variety of business initiatives, in part to ruffle the feathers of China, in part to enrich his family fortune. He only risks world war in doing so, and he has calculated his own survival of such a disaster to be high.

Trump the Assaulter wants to show "American Strength" to the world, using military force to make smaller countries comply with his demands. He wants most of North America and South America to be "owned by" the United States, while ceding most of Europe to the resurrected Soviet Union, putting pressure on China to do what they are told by the superior powers.

He misunderstands China. As much as he loves Mother Russia, he does not "get" the Chinese view of life and their role in the world. There are 1.2-billion Chinese, and they have the longest-running large culture in the world. They will not back down when pressured, and they are not vulnerable to bribes and money. They have more intelligence in their military kitchens than we are about to have in the White House.

China will mop the floor with Trump, but the costs in human lives will be of epic proportions. The likelihood of nuclear weapons usage is very high under Trump.

How many times in United States history has a convicted con-man become President? That question remains officially unanswered, as Donald Trump avoided conviction with an out-of-court settlement last month in the Trump University class-action lawsuit.

We all know the basics, as Trump agreed to pay out 25-million dollars to those aggrieved by his interstate con-game. That case floated over his head during the final stages of the campaign, with the Trump-loving media allowing it to go unmentioned for weeks at a time while it was arguably the number one criteria for selecting the next President. After all, the Republican-loving media had portrayed Hillary Clinton as a criminal without any charges to back up the depiction, yet there were actual charges against Trump implying true criminality in this case.

Nobody seemed to question why Trump got a free-pass from the courts to wait until after the election to see if there was proof that he was actually guilty. Why did that happen? His lawyers claimed he would be "too busy" to attend to such a case during the campaign. But he was not too busy to hit the road for a Victory Tour. How "favored" can one person be without people noticing?

When Trump agreed to the payout in order to avoid trial, he essentially sent a message confirming his own guilt in the scam. This is not rocket-science or brain-surgery.

When the accused party settles out-of-court,
they are always presumed "guilty".

This means a confirmed con-man is heading to the White House.

How does Trump keep getting away with everything? He will be using this settlement to further avoid paying taxes, as the payments are considered to be a tax-deduction.

Do you remember Trump's twitter-war against the "Hamilton" cast after Mike Pence was booed at a recent performance?

That "performance" by Trump served as "cover-fire"
to distract attention from the class-action settlement.

Since then, we've had multiple recounts, the bogus Carrier "deal", and an "Apprentice-style" parade of potential cabinet appointments dominating the headlines. All of these news-flurries have taken the public eye off of an unprecedented and egregious ethical breach by the person lined-up to take over control of the executive branch of the United States. Trump should be held to scrutiny over his de-facto "guilty verdict", regardless of what he tweets about tomorrow.

Since Time Magazine just named Donald Trump as "Person of the Year", Trumpists everywhere are proclaiming his greatness. But what the herd of Trump Sheep don't understand is that the Time selection is not necessarily a popularity contest. It's more a measurement of "impact", be it positive or negative.

So you might say the "Person of the Year" recipients over the decades have been a combination of "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly". Charles Lindbergh, Franklin Roosevelt, and Mahatma Gandhi come to mind in the "Good" category. William Westmoreland, Henry Kissinger, Newt Gingrich and Kenneth Starr are names from the "Bad" group.

Trump fits into the "Ugly" category for this award.
He has had impact, and it has been awful.

Here are some of the other folks to get this distinction largely based on their "Ugly" impact on humanity:

  • 1938:  Adolf Hitler
  • 1939:  Joseph Stalin
  • 1957:  Nikita Khruschev
  • 1971:  Richard Nixon
  • 1979:  Ayatollah Khomeni
  • 2007:  Vladimir Putin

Don't believe me? Here's what the magazine said about their award:
"It's hard to measure the scale of his disruption. This real estate baron and casino owner turned reality-TV star and provocateur -- never a day spent in public office, never a debt owed to any interest besides his own -- now surveys the smoking ruin of a vast political edifice that once housed parties, pundits, donors, pollsters, all those who did not see him coming or take him seriously. Out of this reckoning, Trump is poised to preside, for better or worse."
